Info for Short Term Ministry
Lord, Send Me!
Short Term ministries are an amazing way to serve our Lord, and to grow in spiritual insights and purpose. We welcome you to our team, and invite you to enter into our experiences and our lives.
Be prepared for anything! Many parts of minstry are pleasant, but other parts are muddy/dirty, exhausting, heart-wrenching or confounding. We live a wholistic ministry here, so every part of your body, soul, spirit and mind will be challenged. We want you to anticipate the struggle, and prepare yourself for being stretched and being challenged. You are entering a new paradigm, one with new rules and values. Please be sure that the Lord has drawn you to take this step, as life can be difficult on the mission field!
Be prepared to share your Heart! Our ministries are primarily relational. This means that the purposes for our activities are relationally defined. We don't build a church so that we can have a church built. We build it so that we can demonstrate the Body of Christ to Ugandan believers, and encourage the hearts of struggling pastors. We hold an animal health training not just to improve the health of animals in the region, but to create meaningful relationships with herdsmen, tribal elders, traditional healers and shepherd boys and girls. We may not complete the building in time, and we may not go through the whole curriculum of the training, but if we demonstrated love, reached out and comforted someone, pointed someone to Jesus, brought courage into the heart of another, or inspired someone to greatness, we were highly successful. God's purposes were fulfilled and we were able to be used as His vessel, despite our brokenness and weaknesses. God will grow the fruit.
Other Details:
Get your vaccinations early! Also you will need to begin your malaria prophylactic meds a few days or weeks early. See the CDC Recommendations on Health here.
Ensure that you have adequate Insurance: (CDC Recommendations)
- Trip Cancelation Insurance. This can be purchased as you purchase your ticket and can allow refund of ticket costs.
- International Medical Insurance. Your current insurance may not cover you overseas. Check and confirm or purchase short term medical insurance.
- Emergency Evacuation Insurance. This is mandadory, as we work in very remote areas and may need to get you on an emergency flight out to save your life if necessary! Our favorite is Med Evac.
